SET 2018: Application Form, Eligibility, Important Dates, Exam Pattern

SET 2018Symbiosis Entrance Exam (SET) is conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) in every year for the admission of various under graduate (UG) programmes. The UG programmes include B-Tech/ BCA/ BSc/ BA. /BBA.LLB /B.Des /BBA. So that the candidates can appear for SET 2018 Examination, and based on the result of SET, qualified candidates can seek admission for UG programmes under various institutions. Many Symbiosis institutions consider SET score is mandatory for their admission procedure, where some of the institutions do not specify it as, instead of that they considers the score of JEE main. i.e for Symbiosis colleges in Pune Such as Symbiosis Institution of Health Science (SIHS) for their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programme, Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) for their Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) programme, Symbiosis college of Nursing (SCON) for Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Symbiosis college of Photography (SSP) for Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts (SSLA) for Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). The SET examination is considered as the basic step to get admission in Symbiosis Institutions; later on each of the institutions conducts their own individual admission procedures and tests. Based on the overall performance of the candidate, they can further get seat in any of the different streams they have applied for under various institutions.

The SET exam is commonly known as Symbiosis SET and it’s held at various centres within India most probably in the first week of May at morning session and evening session.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates, who wish to appear for SET 2018 Examination, must have to go through the eligibility criteria in order to check whether, they are eligible for appearing SET in any of the courses offered by symbiosis Institutions.

Here provides the basic eligibility for each UG courses under Symbiosis institutions:

B-Tech Passed Plus in two with 50% of aggregate marks from the compulsory subject’s physics and mathematics along with any one of the subjects Chemistry/ Biology/ Bio technology/ Technical vocational subject. For SC/ST the aggregate mark is 45%
BCA Passed Plus in Two or 3 year diploma in engineering/ technology with 50% aggregate marks (45% in case of SC/ST)
BBA Passed in Plus two with 50% of aggregate mark(45% in case of SC/ST)
BSc Passed in Plus two with 50% of aggregate mark (45% in case of SC/ST). Foreign candidates can apply through Symbiosis centre for international Education (SCIE).
B.Des Passed Plus two in any stream or 3 year diploma with an aggregate of 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST)
B.A.LL.B/ B.B.A.LL.B Passed/appearing in Plus two with a minimum of 45% of aggregate mark ( 40% in case of SC/ST)

SET Age Limit 2018

The candidate should not be 20 years of age or above at the time of appearing for SET 2018 entrance exam as per 1st week of May 2018 (On the exact date of SET published by organizing authority).

SET 2018 Application Form

Candidates can apply for SET 2018 during February of 2018. All the Registration Process is carried out through online.

  • Candidates are requested to fill up all the necessary information required along with a recent scanned passport size photograph.
  • A candidate can choose either one or two paper for morning section and evening section of the exam.
  • Candidates also need to verify whether the given information are true to their knowledge before submitting the application.
  • Last date for submitting application is 2nd week of April.
  • While submitting the applications, candidates need to make their payment for UG courses under respective institutions before the final date.

Application Fee

The Application fee for SET 2018 is Rs.1500/- and a candidate can make payment of this application fee through any of the following ways:

  • Payment via Net-Banking.
  • Payment via Credit Card
  • Payment via Indian Bank Net-Banking.
  • Payment via Cash.
  • Payment via Demand Draft.

Sometimes there may be fee concession for candidates belong to SC/ST or other categories.

SET Examination Pattern 2018

The SET 2018 Question Paper consists of 5 sections: Law, Design, General, Engineering and Health Science. In which first three sections consists of 150 questions each and last 2 sections 100 questions each. It’s an offline mode Exam, which is based on pen and paper.

  • Law section consists of 30 questions from each category such as Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge with a total mark of 150.
  • Design section consists of 150 questions from Design Aptitude with a total mark of 150.
  • General section consists of 40 questions from each category such as General English, Quantitative, general Awareness and 30 questions from Analytical &Logical reasoning category, with a total of 150 marks.
  • Engineering& Health Science section consists of 25 questions each from physics, chemistry and 50 questions from the category of mathematics and biology respectively with a total of 200 marks each section.

Duration: The duration of SET entrance exam is defines as 2 hours and 30 minutes. i.e, 150 minutes (in total).

Sessions: The SET Exam is conducted in 2 sessions, i.e morning session and evening session.

In morning session candidate can choose from Law or Design and in evening session Candidate can choose from General, Engineering & Health Science Section.

Question Paper Type: The Question Paper will consist of Objective Type Questions and the no:of questions may vary according to each sections.

Negative Marking: There is no negative marking scheme for SET entrance Examination.

SET 2018 Syllabus

The syllabus of SET exam may get changed according to each section. For Engineering and Health Science, the questions are most commonly based on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology i.e, 10+2 level. For other sections questions are asked from general awareness, logical& verbal reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and etc. Candidate with proper knowledge of these preferred areas can easily get selected by SET.

SET Reservation categories

The reservation of seats in each of the Symbiosis Institution is based on the following categories. The remaining seats are given for merit candidates.

SET Admit Card 2018 

Candidates can download their Admit card during April 2018 from the respective website of the conducting authority on or before the SET Exam. Candidates are requested to bring their admit card along with Id proof for verification at the time of examination. In case of loss of admit card, there may be certain issues for writing exams or admission procedures, because all candidates need to keep their admit card, till the admission procedure at various Institutions.

SET 2018 Result

Results will be published within two weeks, after the exam gets over. The score cards are made available from the respective website of conducting authority within 1 month after the result declaration. Qualified candidates can download their Score cards for further procedures of admission. Base on the result, candidates can seek admission at various Symbiosis institutions.

SET Cut-off 2018 

The cut-off marks are decided by each of the institution separately as according to their preference.

SET Counseling 2018

The Counseling date of each institution will be published in the website portal. Institutions publish their list of shortlisted candidates and also the name of candidates belongs to their waiting list. After SET 2018 Exam, the qualified students are requested to further go for written ability Test and a Personal Interview as specified by the institutions. Based on the overall performance of candidates, they can get admission to their respective course under Symbiosis institutions.
